JUNE 2026 NEWSLETTER

We have had the most wonderful, busy, and creative time during June! Our

classroom has been filled with so much colour, art, and laughter.

We started off our summer camp by stepping into the vibrant world of Henri Matisse. We loved learning about his favorite doves and cats, and were inspired to find out that even when he was old and had to stay in bed, he never stopped creating beautiful art using long sticks with crayons attached!

Next, we traveled to Mexico to explore the life and artwork of Frida Kahlo. Our

classroom was festive with fun games and delicious Mexican food. Our favorite part was painting self-portraits in Frida’s style, complete with bright flowers in our hair and our favourite animals surrounding us.

Vincent van Gogh’s paintings are mesmerising! We fell in love with his bright yellow sunflowers and glowing stars. Touching the thick, textured swirls of paint in our own artwork helped us to imagine how van Gogh’s paintings were painted. We enjoyed eating a meal inspired by his time in Paris, and we renjoyed recognising his masterpieces on the walls of the classroom.

We also channeled our inner Leonardo da Vinci, diving into his incredible world of

inventions and his enthusiasm for wings and flight. Like Leonardo a Vinci, we all wish we could fly!

We wrapped up the month by bringing Japanese traditions to life, eating cold somen in all the colours of the rainbow, decorating vibrant bamboo branches for Tanabata and playing summer games at our traditional Matsuri festival.

It’s been a month filled with endless curiosity, culture, and community. What a magical four weeks!
